Just dryer damage?

Hello, I came across this 1965 quarter in my moms collection. I'm not sure what to think. I have googled it extensively but it doesn't seem to match anything. Its unusually shiny but seems to have either excess metal on the edg

es or its corrosion. Any ideas?

Hello and welcome to the forums,

my best guess is that the quarter is plated with a silvery metal.

Normal 1965 quarters are the first year of copper nickel clad so the edge will show silver/copper/silver colors.

Lastly, its good practice to hold coins by the edge in order to avoid putting fingerprints on the faces.

It's all about what the people want...
