Verifying a coin and something weird comes up.

PClark99PClark99 Posts: 115 ✭✭✭✭

At a LCS. PCGS graded coin.
Looked up coin to verify and it came up with a true view but the hold the coin is in currently is not the same holder as it’s in now. Also the serial number is different. Coin seems to be the same otherwise. Why would that be? I didn’t buy it but I am curious why this would be? Tia

Here is the coin in question.

Assumption - it is the same coin.

I'll make a GUESS. Submitted as a "regrade" under the "standard" service group (no new images), and PCGS just kept the original images up.

Only way to know for sure is to ask PCGS CS.

  • Good morning! The Cert Verification page for this coin has been updated. It was submitted for a regrade and received a new certification number, certification #44338013 was the original number prior to the last submission. Rest assured, it's the same coin!
