Is that a hit next to the E in E PLURIBUS?
What do you make of the extra metal north and east of the R in PLURIUS?
If the extra metal is from the Mint, should I put this in a flip to protect it? And is there much added value?
I tried to see if it's DDR but I don't think so. It's so dirty and worn.
The close up of the reverse was taken at an angle to highlight height.

Yes, just a small planchet lamination that has partly separated from the rest of the coin . Unfortunately not significant.

Agreed. Definite lamination. Not so much a case of "extra metal", as it is displaced metal.
