Gretzky rookie Vs. Brid/Magic rookie
I am not a hockey collector but I do have the Topps (not OPC) Gretzky rookie in a PSA 6. Would you consider it a fair trade for an even swap of the Bird/Magic rookie PSA 6 or 7 (I wanted the rookie with Bird/Magic/and Dr. J) for the Gretzky? I don't have any offers on the table yet, but I was thinking I would take it to the Hofstra show in April and see what I can do. I don't want to offer too much and screw myself, but I also don't want to have people think I am crazy and trying to ask too much. If I had to keep the Gretzky it is not a big deal because if I was to own 1 hockey card-Gretzky is the one to have. What do you think?

off the top, i do not know the values of either card. if they are close, I would choose the card of the players I liked the most.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I follow the Bird/Johnson, but not so much the Gretzky.
Checking history of SOLD items on eBay, seems like the Gretzky Topps PSA 6 might be able to get a Bird/Erving/Magic PSA 7 (depending on the card appearance of both the Gretzky and Bird/Johnson). I would NOT trade it for a Bird/Magic PSA 6 -- but if you can get a PSA 6.5 or PSA 7 that seems pretty fair (but try to get one pretty well centered and without those "blank ink spots" that are common on 6, 7 and sometimes 8 of the Bird/Johnson). You might have to pay a little extra -- but depends on the appearance of your Gretzky... imho
Checked on VCP sold prices. They are close.
The last Bird/Johnson in a PSA 6 sold for $1149.99. The Gretzky in a PSA 6 sold for $1576.00
Keep the Gretzky. He's considered by most to be the GOAT.
If you are going to get rid of it PLEASE refuse to trade it for anything less than a well centered Bird/Magic 7.
The population report says there are 2316 PSA 6 Gretzky's and 4312 PSA 7's of Bird/Magic/Dr J.
I'm biased, being a big hockey fan.
