Auction madness

Today's Noonans auction had strong prices, to say the least. One crazy example was the sale of an NGC MS65BN example of an 1851 halfpenny (no dots on shield), which hammered for £2,000 plus 24% BP. That's more than 7X the Spink book value for BU full lustre. Wow - and I thought my £600 max bid was way out there.

    And if you’re overseas:

    Another 1% for shipping insurance.

And a poor USD exchange rate (if you’re in the US).

The 1680 Saxe-Albertine death taler seemed to hammer at a reasonable 900 gbp. The design on this one is beautiful.

preubas, you're right. About $3,330 for a coin that isn't close to being the rarest in the series.
