the usps i use is awesome. the people that work there would go the extra mile every time to help. but in today's world people aren't hired in govt or major businesses by how trust worthy they are, how qualified they are or hard they work. never made any sense to me,but we see what we get in all walks of life.

Work hard and you will succeed!!

After reading the article, what is the best and safest way to sell an expensive card, say $5000? Is it still USPS Registered Mail with insurance? Or are there alternatives that also offer a good level of protection?

Other than an in person transaction for such a high end priced card, USPS registered mail.
Some in the past have flown to meet the buyer for a high end transaction.

My local mailman is very good and sad that he is retiring I think within the next year or 2. The mail people that work as fill in have put my cards in other people's mail boxes. In my neighborhood it has community boxes even though we live in regular homes and not an apartment or HOA type, maybe it's a California thing not sure.

The USPS workers have known for many years about the sports collectible valuables getting shuffled around through their system. Some of them must get insanely jealous knowing that they're busting their butts to deliver stuff to people who probably make better pay just sitting around the house flipping cards online.
