Resubmisson question

I have a cac approved quarter that I would like to have the variety added to the label. Would I also have to resubmit it to cac for their approval?

Yes you would need to submit for resticker not for new evaluation from CAC. Make sure you take good photos of the coin as it is now to avoid any issues with getting a new sticker. And be aware there is some (very small but some) risk that if the coin is damaged during the TPG resubmit CAC can decline to resticker.

As long as you keep the same cert#, you can get it restickered. If not, then it goes through reapproval.

What variety? It may be a minor variety they don't recognize.

If the cert number stays the same then I believe it is pretty straightforward to just submit back to CAC for re-sticker, but I do not know if PCGS would keep the cert number the same if they the variety. As @coinbuf has mentioned, take really good images and if the coin comes back with a new cert number provide the images and the reason why the coin had to get a new cert number and CAC should work with you pretty closely.

    Good luck!

If you submit the coin to PCGS for a reholder with Variety attribution, the cert number will not change. Then as @coinbuf said you can send it to CAC for a re-sticker.

If it were my coin, I would neatly print the variety on the slab with a fine tipped Sharpie pen and save the hassle and expense of resubmitting it including the cost of two-way insured shipping. The ink can be removed with some rubbing alcohol with little effort at a later time if so desired.

Send it to VSS. @messydesk owns it. His attributions are highly respected and will be MUCH less expensive than sending to PCGS and then to CAC.

Just think of how much money is being wasted on resubmissions. This is money that could be applied to purchases of additional coins, not plastic and stickers. Leave your coin as it is.

And both Heritage and GreatCollections will recognize my attributions as being good.
