Jefferson nickels Die crack question

I've noticed a few 40's era Jeffersons with die cracks from 12 to 6 o'clock. Was this a common issue with the nickel in the 40's? I've also noticed large cuds(?) in the top of the building on the reverse. Two common issues? Not my series but I find them interesting.

Yes These Die chips are a bit scarce, but not rare at all, and easily found in BU condition.
There were promotions in the 60s, calling them “alligator on the roof” errors.
