Has shipping through eBay gotten more expensive?

It seems to be the case. I just printed a mailing label going from Maryland to Missouri: A padded mailer for 3 oz was $5.40.
I don't know if eBay is just looking for more of a profit or maybe the discount purchasing USPS through them is gone.
Is is worth switching to a mailing service like Pirate Ship?

I normally don't answer my own posts but I got my answer.
First of all, I looked at Pirate Ship and entered the info for the mailer I just printed off eBay. Exact same price: $5.40 for 3 oz bubble mailer,
Then I wondered if there was a USPS rate increase. Sure enough, on January 18, rates went up. ground Advantage average rate increase 7.8%. That explains it.

eBay is always passing on the "discounted" USPS rate, as opposed to the Retail rate you get at the Post Office counter......

It seemed to me like it went from like 3.80 to 5.40 real quick.

If it's under 20 bucks and under 1/4" thick you can use eBay standard envelope for 1.00.

Not sure what a typical card purchase would cost, but sellers seem quite comfortable with $6-9 for a bubble mailer these days. I factor that into my bid, not happy about it, but whatever. If I pay that kind of money (really anything over $2) and they ship standard trading card method, that is where i have a problem.

I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.
