The 2027 Working Dogs Commemorative Coin Program, authorized by Public Law 118-109, directs the U.S. Mint to produce gold, silver, and clad coins honoring the service of working dogs in detection, military, therapy, and assistance roles. Coins will be issued in 2027, with surcharges benefiting America's VetDogs to support service dog training for veterans and first responders.

We have a potential low mintage winner here unless the pet lovers show up and buy.

This is a neat commemorative. If the half dollar gets produced in enough quantities (and is inexpensive enough) I can see some people using it for a dog collar.

I'm a sucker for Dogs on coins! Definitely interested.
needs a "companion" clad medal with just text - "Service Dog" or some such and places for engraving or stamping names
and i guess the usual mottos and enscriptions
A similar coin was proposed in 2022:

We will see the designs shortly for these, the dog tag idea could be a winner.
These are the first design candidates: No usable dog tag:

Thats way cool, give a dog a bone and tell it merry Christmas 🫠
My vote goes to….
Absolutely this 100% needs to be on a coin sometime soon!
What, no proposed design with a beagle? The ‘beagle brigade’ has done a great and important job at US ports of entry for years in detecting contraband agricultural products. My wife used to work with some of the beagle brigade trainers years ago so we were hoping one of the coins would feature one of those cute, hard working pups!
I don't know if some of the mint artists quit or were let go but there seems to be less designs in this months reviews compared to the past.
Need to bring in a canine expert to help with a design.
Hmm... If there's a good design of a good boy, then it might end up in my Prime Number Set next year.

Nice -- could put it on their collars.
I like this idea from the Mint.
This is a superior design to anything they came up with.
Need a coin that shows action. Maybe a hologram coin that shows a police dog taking down a perp.
Belgian Tervuren and Belgian Malinois would be ideal.
They released more designs:
Not a bad dog in the bunch!
Hmm, I am seeing no human representation other than what appears to be caucasian males: These will need to be "re-thunk."
