Inventory stickers on coin slabs…

Every now and then I see an old slab with a white “price tag” style sticker on it and a 4 digit number in black. I note the curved edges of this particular sticker. Have you seen these before? Are they all from one large dealer? I think they might be 20+ years old. I’m kind of surprised when I see them still on the slabs.

It seems to be some kind of stock number. It seems they were rather sloppy on putting the stickers on.

For cost code on my material stickers are small and not on the coin area itself. Plus on the back of the TPG holder. So the 6205 seems to be an inventory number ref in his computer where data like cost, sell is based.

Many players will have a cost code and may quote price based on that (cost x markup factor). The prob with a mkt Val code is that can be always changing.

I just have a cost code (where letters equal numbers). Then quote price (cost x muf want to use). Like a QB coming up to the line of scrimmage and calling a play. This method allows flexibility at various stages of the show in quoting price. A dealer early on might quote cost plus x pct to get cash flow but later quote more bc that’s needed to overcome the show costs and have extra money take home.

Never seen them. Maybe something local?

I got some of the ones like that and some newer ones. Whatever works for them I guess, have a good day

Looks like a label from an old pricing gun.
