ANA Summer Seminar

I’ve been looking into the ANA’s Summer Seminar and for those who are involved in it or have participated in it, I want to ask, as a whole, is the experience worth it? I’m also wondering about Witter U but to a lesser extent. I know it’s probably a little early to ask at this moment, but if I end up going, I do want to prepare.

It’s amazing, 100% worth it. Here is a trip report (not mine) from a few years ago. A few of us forum members are in some of the pics. Do you have any specific questions?

Thank you for the input! I don’t have any questions about the program, but with the passage of time, I’ll probably have some about it, so please do check up on this forum from time to time! I will probably do a little research later so there may be a few later tonight.

Summer Seminar is a great experience. Total emersion in numismatics from the time you wake up until you go to bed.
Any ANA member can attend Summer Seminar. Witter coin is for Young Numismatists (YNs) and is, I believe, by invitation only.

Worth it, no doubt. Get a scholarship if you can.

Well worth it! I went many years ago, met some great numismatists, made new friends, learned a lot, enjoyed sightseeing in Colorado. Awesome experience, I remember it like it was yesterday.
Attended last year and was enjoyable. Reminded of the fun I had in mid 80's thru 1993. Had been 32 years since I attended a class. I did learn a few new things so it was beneficial for me. Not planning on a 2026 continuation, but who knows, maybe I'll change my mind ?
Discounts for early registration are ending March 28th.

Been once and will do it again some year.

Highly recommended. I am co-instructing the New Orleans coinage class during the first session.
100% money well spent, no regrets and would do it again sometime soon.

I can confirm Summer Seminar is 100% worth it. Try and get a scholarship since you are a YN. It’s a great learning experience and well worth attending.
I would apply to Witter U, it is not invitation only like stated earlier in the thread but you apply and I believe they have 50 spots open this year. I never did it as I aged out right before they started but I’ve heard it’s worth it.

Summer seminar is a great experience. I went three times when I was in high school and every time was fun and super educational. If you’re considering Witter U, I take it you’re a YN. In that case, there are summer seminar scholarships that cover tuition and travel. Definitely look into those.
I don’t know as much about Witter U, but I had a long chat about it with Seth Chandler (he runs it) at the Chicago ANA in 2024, and it sounds like a great program. I’ve known him for a long time (as well as some of the others involved) and trust that they’re putting on a great and valuable program.
