Consigning with Greg Morris question

Hello. For those of you that have consigned with GMC recently, what sort of timeframe would I be looking at with a bulk consignment: does it take weeks or months for them to get hundreds of cards listed (if one goes by their eBay listings they seem to be pretty overwhelmed volume-wise)? I am sure they have an efficient operation, but at any given time they have 10s of thousands of cards listed, so just curious how long a consignor would have to wait. Thanks.

It really depends on what you send in. If there's a strong level of attraction, like high value cards, complete or almost complete sets in higher grade, anything vintage NM-MT or better will get listed fairly quick. Lower grade cards, or cards that everyone else is submitting will cause you to wait longer as it goes in a first come/first served type of arrangement. It usually takes a couple weeks to see your listings appear, maybe less if something stands out and they feel it should be auctioned ASAP. They will definitely give preference to top level stuff.

Agree with ElMago - the more cards from the same set you send, the faster it goes. Usually you get pretty fully listed in about three weeks.

Odds and ends and stacks of duplicates take longer. For instance, I sent them about 45 Maddux RCs from a fleer Update case I broke - they have been listing them for a few months, a few at a time.

They pay you for each consignment in two payments, the first about a month after posting, the second about two months.

There are favorable exceptions. If you visit their auctions closing tonight, or any Friday night, you will see a lot of stuff which is trimmed, creased, glued, taped, hole-punched, etc. with plenty of star power, kind of like the beautiful sportscard version of The Island Of Misfit Toys. Lots of old vintage. If you have some of the best of the worst (condition), then Friday night is for you.
