Yes, this is a Precious Metals Forum. But, today's prices for silver must be destroying the collector value of all those pieces of .925 silver. Georg Jensen, Gorham's Martele and Tiffany come to mind.

At $120 per troy ounce ... melt 'em, Danno!
I like - and use - my 18th Century English tankards - I cannot imagine they'll will ever be worth more as bullion than as collector items.

I collect silverware, probably too much to be honest 😆

When I decide to re-enter the silver market, I think antique sterling will be my play. Other than numismatic silver coinage, my days of buying silver bars and rounds are over. I’m sticking purely with gold going forward.
Having a few nice pieces like @OnlyGoldIsMoney posted would be nice to have. That’s where my head is at. It satisfies the silver bug itch, and preserves history.
It pains me to hear stories where people sell Sterling pieces that have been handed down from generation to generation. I’m sure there were a lot of family heirlooms melted during this big run-up.
Once in a while I will take a flyer on vintage sterling silver jewelry pieces with the hopes of reselling them later and making a couple bucks.
These things are looking a lot like money these days!

I like Mexican sterling especially pendants and medallions but do not have a very extensive collection. A lot of them are very artistic and scarce. There is a wide variety and you can usually pick them up for melt. ...Even less right now.
"The Holy Family," also known as the Doni Tondo, is Michelangelo's only finished panel painting, celebrated for its composition and vibrant colors, currently housed in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence.
