best way to liquidate collection?

I have about 900 PCGS graded coins most are just fillers, and a good portion are ones that I just picked up for the satisfaction of owning them. Due to reasons i wont discuss I think its time to dispose of the collection instead of passing it along to my children as orginally planed. Just not sure how best to do this. EBAY would be time consuming and stressful not particually sure that AMPEX would be interested or willing to offer a price id be willing to live with. Carting it around to coin shops also seems like a sure way to get insulted on value/interest. Its not about getting top value its more of i dont want to feel like a idiot when i sell it to whoever buys it or however it happens. any thoughts?

Without more information than "about 900" it is really difficult to tell you anything that would be applicable without writing a book. Regardless, good luck with the sale.

GreatCollections is pretty easy to do. Hard to know for sure without more information. BST here is another option.

If you tell us more about what you have and where you live, you’ll probably get some good dealer recommendations.

Another advantage of running things by the forum is to deal with any unrealistic expectations you may have, before you actually try to sell anything. Maybe not an issue for you - I have no idea- but others reading this may benefit.

I just assumed you could see what i had from my profile https://pcgs.com/setregistry/danegeld5/profile/131251 my bad. hope this helps i live near Tallahasse Florida.
I live near Tallahasse Florida and forgive me i just thought you could see my collection from my profile http:/https://pcgs.com/setregistry/danegeld5/profile/131251/ Didnt think about Great Collections most of the things i have i would rate as fillers for most people... rather upset my kids just are not interested in the things i hoped to leave behind for them
Based on what I'm seeing, Great Collections might be the best bet.
For these low dollar items, I think GC is a less than ideal choice. I would consign them to someone like @airplanenut who will list them on eBay and do all of the dirty work for a fee.

Sure! That's another great choice!
who is airplanenut? thanks
Low dollar because i collected poorly or low dollar because they are not "blue chip" coins?
Just because of what they are; no critique on the coins themselves. GC is a great choice for coins that will hammer at $1k or more and a pretty good choice for coins that are at least near that.
I didn't pore through every coin you have but for coins that are in the couple hundred dollar or lower range, I think eBay will likely end up netting you more.
@airplanenut is a long time and well trusted board member here who does eBay listings for people. He has had good results as I understand it. See more info here -> https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1111139/consign-your-coins-to-ebay-with-jkcoins-great-rates-great-results

You will have to decide what the best venue is for selling your collection. I can tell you that I have gotten amazing deals on GC but also seen plenty of coins go for way more than eBay. It's still an auction and you will have multiple bidders get in the same bidding wars.
To me, eBay can have the same coin listed for months or years. Many sellers list with a set price (BIN) that includes eBay fees and is higher than what a comparable coin on GC would bring. With GC, it's either 99 cent start or lowest price (reserve met) the seller is willing to take. You have a higher chance to get coins sold with low start and get what the marker will pay. So here you'll decide if you want the top dollar and list with set price or get it sold for whatever the market will bare at the time of the listing
IMHO, some buyers and many sellers have left eBay over the years. Too many scammers causing unneeded loses. Never had an issue with GC delivering what was promised.
Now, if you're dealing in raw coins, eBay might be a better place unless you're ready to have GC grade them (takes time and money) for you...
Hope this helps.
most of my coins are of the 100.00 varitey so i agree, i collected them for fun more than anything else. i did a search on airplanenut seems he was removed from this forum?
I sent a Email to airplanenut, while im not looking for top dollar its not a fire sale either and while i dont need to sell it today I rather not have it take longer than a few months now that i have decided to do it.
Looked on the ANA for a dealer near me but the two that are semi close dont seem to answer their phone
I'm still here
I got a very brief vacation from the boards a few years ago to a clerical error, but that was quickly fixed. I'll put together a reply to your email sometime this evening--thanks!
ok ill look forward to it
