I have an ANACS MS 64 UDM in a soap box I want to sell. I have been approached by someone with 1 post on this forum. They want to buy my coin and said they are willing to use paypal friends and family amongst other payment forms that I dont use like zelle.
They have given me references on Facebook and Instagram but I dont use social media at all. Just this forum.
I am a little nervous about it.
Its a $1300 coin.
I would like some help from you guys.
I want to approach this carefully.
If it were someone with a few hundred posts and some board references I would feel a little more comfortable.

Is friends and family a safe way to go?
I believe a check can bounce back after weeks. At least thats what I remeber.
He doesn't look like he wants to commit any felonies.

I don’t really see what the issue is, they want to pay you upfront I assume? There are other things you can do such as having them provide a picture of their ID and make sure that the payment comes from a related account, and personally I think it’s always good for both parties to have a conversation on the phone (or FaceTime) before any funds are sent. As the seller, the only thing that matters for you is that the funds aren’t clawed back for some reason, so it’s advised to use a non reversible payment method and make sure you’re not getting paid with a stolen credit card or bank info.

PP F&F is generally non reversible, at least more so than G&S, so it would actually be a positive indicator if the buyer proposed F&F over G&S in the first place. Neither have any seller protections that mean anything, though both allow the use of credit cards in which a chargeback could theoretically be filed, so make sure to keep records of the tracking and opt for signature delivery if you need to provide proof of delivery for any reason. If there is one thing I’d suggest….it would be to remedy your statement quoted below-

Now would It would be a good time to start using Zelle. Zelle is processed through the ACH clearing house, it’s sort of like a mini-wire or an e-check that clears instantly. It transfers directly from account to account with no intermediary that can be abused. It’s very simple, and is built into most banking apps. If not, there’s an app you can download, but it’s feeless and it’s every bit as secure as other payment methods. If anything, there’s only one who’s then be at risk is the buyer, but if they’re the one that offered to use Zelle in the first place than I wouldn’t be concerned. It’s when there’s a 1 post member selling a coin that you should be wary, but this is a public forum and they may have seen a picture of your coin and just created their account to be able to contact you about it.

These are all good signs, a proof picture in addition to the provided references. If you’re going to be doing a lot of selling in the future, it would behoove you to have a Facebook or instagram account for this purpose alone, but a check is no safer than Zelle and takes much longer to complete the transaction. Both are safer than PayPal or Venmo where a credit card can be used, but as both a buyer and a seller I prefer Zelle.

I dont plan on selling alot just here and there to fund another purchase.
I had that coin up for sale a while ago. He said he found it using Google. I have no reason not to trust him.
Im a bit paranoid about these things. The reason is I am not a dealer just a collector so I dont know all the ins and outs.
Can a credit card be used with PPFF?
Now that I am not looking to fund any new purchases im not even sure I want to sell it. Its one of my favorite coins and I was offering it at a break even price like I do most things I sell.

I guess I'm still "old school" and not quite willing to give up my information to someone I've never met, or at least built a raport with over several paper transactions. There have been a few challenges on the BST here related to selling that have me using checks and snail mail. The transactions take a bit longer, but I guard my phone number... that's just me.
