Stark is so frustrating. Doesnt know how to coach a whole game then plays some backyard football in the 4th and they look like they should

Ryan Day coaches one game like this every year, usually it’s against the Wolverines. I’m glad he got it outa the way.

    Congratulations Texas. 😇

And it's always the kicker who lets the team down. Why does Day always get crappy kickers?????

No excuses for losing that game up by 20 in the 3rd quarter.

Is that part 1 of a 2 part post? Great ability to build the suspense. And again Stark is Iron Man.

Well if he gave his kicker an opportunity early on and taken a 30.yard attempt rather than get stuffed on 4th down he would have won

It has been a long time since I have seen every single player on a supposedly good team all choke in the same game. The kicker will probably get assigned the most blame by the most fans - and Good God did he choke - but he was in the company of everyone else on his team. I don't think the defensive ends were where they were supposed to be on even a single play. The offensive line started playing like they were afraid they might hurt somebody if they hit them too hard. Ohio State is a team 100% devoid of leadership, players or coaches.

This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

Like I stated before - he also went into "Prevent Offense" during the second half - I would bet he thought he had this game won at halftime...........

When you have a top tier team like Texas on the ropes you have to go for the knock out. Up 23-3 Day and his OC decided to run and milk time off the clock, and the defense played the loosest zone coverage in recent memory.

Chalk it up as a learning experience they already have learned. No use criticizing individual players but there are guys that need to do some soul searching on both teams.

Theres a lot of what ifs in that game. If Texas would stop fumbling or Worthy would have caught the TD pass instead of letting it go through his arms that FG wouldnt matter, Hell just unleash everyone the whole game and dont wait till your back is against the wall

Wingo not Worthy. If he caught that then the missed FG by OSU wouldn't matter. I just got back from watching the game in person, I have been going to Texas games for 20+ years, and this is the craziest one I've ever seen.

My bad theres a couple guys I always mix up if i dont look it up. That ball definitely should have been caught and not hit him in the wrists.

That atmosphere must have been electric. That had a lot of the 05 vs SoCal Natty vibes when they finally got aggressive in the second half

The fact that OSU didn't let Texas score when there was like a minute to go is epic on the idiotic scale

You lose to a FG so let's do some heroic goalline stop to milk the clock down to 15 seconds then let them hit that FG they would get anyways

Ryan Day cost them that game

As I said earlier in the thread, in the whole scheme of things this game won’t mean much because I presume both teams will make the playoffs. But it sure hurts like hell right now. 🥵

I can only wonder if the teams will continue to play each other. These three games have all been very entertaining and closely played. This kind of inter-conference rivalry can only be good for College Football.

i was thinking the same thing. the Buckeyes did the Horns the best possible favor by dragging that kid down at the 1 instead of letting him score. it's so counterintuitive, but it was probably the difference between winning and losing that game. if they had parted the red sea and let him house it, they would have had more than a buck 20 with a TO in their hip pocket. that's an eternity.

    100%

    compare the two scenarios

    1) getting into FG range with 80 seconds left & a timeout at your disposal

    or

    2) trying to stop UT four times from a yard out

if you choose door #1, you have a real shot at winning

    door #2 is death

100% this loss is on the coach/coaches. In the first half Ohio State had the ball in the red zone at 4th and 2 and chose not to take the 3 points. Then the bad clock management at the end.

Maywood - Once they expand playoffs again, teams arnt going to schedule these type of games anymore. Because they will be able to make the playoffs on easier schedules. So no reason to schedule these big regular season games anymore. If Texas wouldn't had played Ohio State last year, they probably would've made the playoffs with 2 losses.

i'd remove definitely from your sentence. if they let them score and then drive a whole 40 yards in 80 seconds with a timeout and the best receiver in college football, you're set up to win the game..............and it definitely would have been the difference.

Week 2 AP Poll shows how ridiculous the media can be in their pre-season hype assessments. Now that games are being played we get to see how good/bad these teams are. My thinking, after watching this process unfold for decades, is that it’s always best to lose in weeks 1-2 then in weeks 11-12.

In the case of Ohio State, better to lose in week 2 to Texas than week 12 to Michigan, although the prospect of a 2-3 loss season looms ahead.

No doubt. After watching Ohio State's offensive line dominate Texas for 3 quarters, I like their chances at running the table in the conference.
