Know of any sites that show silver bars?

BochimanBochiman Posts: 25,790 ✭✭✭✭✭

Have an old schoolmate who mentioned he has some 1 oz silver bars. He's tempted to sell and was talking about getting them "appraised".
I had to laugh at that as I think most dealers would say "1oz silver = ~spot or spot minus "x"".
That said, it is probably true for the vast majority of them now.

Now, THAT said, I know there may still be some that are worth a premium of some sort. I recommended ebay but that only shows you ones in a somewhat recent time period.

So, any sites that people are aware of?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

MineralX.com is an auction site and the vast majority of those sales are the rarer type products. They have a searchable history.

AllEngelhard.com has pics from many different producers.

The Archie Kidd book, if you can find one.

    Definitely pictures
I have a couple Archie Kidd books.
There isn't any pricing but may show rarity numbers.
Archie Kidd books are highly recommended, Volume 5 and 6

Some old bars I have are listed here.
Mostly Engelhard But they’ve added some other cool old vintage companies. Hope it helps

No. He has them put away and it was just a casual conversation with the price of silver where it has been going.
So, I was just wondering (for him)

Maybe soon, when he gets more interested in selling...but it would just be normal cellphone pics at that time, knowing him

    Thanks folks!

EBAY is quite useful for this and you can research quite a ways back if you know sellers that sell these by looking at their past sales and putting in the makers of the bars or other information used in the descriptions of them. That's the place to go, if you have the time or inclination to do the research. Unfortunately there is no 'Red Book of Silver Bars' .
