When BRICS money market and bond markets trade $100 billion a day, give me a call. :D

The current value of trade among the BRICS+ nations is around USD 5 trillion. Wonder how much of that is done without US dollars?

Trade within the BRICS bloc is about $1 trillion. 2/3rds of that is without use of the dollar.

Jim Rickards: Gold is leaving the U.S. in record amounts

Didn't that gold (and more) already come back to the U.S. since Rickards made that observation?

Dereyb is right, the world has lost confidence with the regime.

The chart is right....the dollar has been in a 35-year trading range. Things are fine. I worked with currency traders first job out of college.

I didn't say the world has lost confined the dollar. I said the world has lost confidence in the regime.

you forget the GOLDen rule: Price of gold is a reflection of faith in the currency it is priced in. One can lose faith in the regime and still have a strong currency.

Some folk just buy stuff cuz others are buying stuff. Self-fulfilling prophecy. You see it all the time.

Can name a time when a strong currency was associated with a no confidence regime?

Asia de-populates (China will lose 25% of her workforce by 2055) and Europe pursues "net zero" nonsense. They should worry about what they are doing to screw up their own economies. :D

Did you ever wonder why Europe didn't create a single job from 1998-2018 while we created tens of millions ?

    .

The human population is, perhaps, already too high. Many things will contribute to limiting the population: scarcity of resources; pandemics; war; diminished prospects; etc.

Our debt-based monetary system works OK when the population is growing and new people are constantly entering the system, taking on new debt to pay off the old debt and servicing that debt.

But when the population levels off and is no longer growing, with insufficient new people willing to take on and service debt, the debt-based monetary system will not hold up. It will fall on its face and the old debt structures will collapse.

We are seeing the first effects of this now. The only thing that will disrupt the trend is if robots are able to do most of the work and human labor is no longer needed.

    .

No I've never wondered that because Europe created 10s of millions of jobs during that time period. The integration of the Eastern Bloc countries was in full swing.

Took about 4.5 seconds (im a 1-finger typist) to do a Google search...
