Show report

I have been looking for an 1882 cameo proof Indian Cent to finish my 1882 deep cameo proof set, without gold. I have all the coins in deep cameo, but I have never been able to find a penny. I have been looking for over twenty years. I found one in a case. It is only a cameo, as there are only a few deep cameos in the series. It is not an expensive coin, but it made my show.

The show was extremely busy. Several dealers who have been coming for 34 years said it was the busiest Fun show they have been at. I got in with the early bird and it was smooth. The line for regular entrance was unbelievable. I was told some people waited an hour to get in.

Every dealer I talked to said they were really busy and having a great show. I was somewhat interested in several coins, but they were sold when I came back. In previous shows I could wait a while and then go back and negotiate. I did buy my only three cent silver piece in a PCGS proof 67 cameo .

I did find a coin I have been searching for. Now I have to try and get the dealer let it go.

I did find a couple coins in the upcoming auction As the saying goes: you will run out of money before you run out of coins you want.

The Col. Ellsworth sale went pretty well. There was an EAC meeting at the show. If you are interested in early copper, consider joining.

I think the food options at the show were better in Oklahoma City.

The PCGS lines were the longest I have seen. Although one coin I submitted had been reholdered on Thursday it was not delivered until the last drop at 3 on Saturday. I submitted 3 coins for crossover. Two coins crossed and the CAC coin was DNC.

We will see if this was one show or the start of something bigger.

Nice report - would love to see photos of that 1882 cameo proof set!

Agree with many of your observations. The food options were abysmal -- I think I will try to pack a sandwich next year.

I will post the set when I have pictures of all the coins. I have a picture of the trade dollar. It’s PCGS 68 DCAM CAC.

Everyone should see this coin but especially @tradedollarnut @Eldorado9 and @Inspired70
