Can anyone help me ID this and what it could be?

I got this at a local thrift sale. I have no clue what it is. No magnet will stick to it and for some reason it has a strip of double sided tape on the back but be way too heavy to hang. I bought it cause I loved the design. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't find any markings and when I look on the Internet, Google mistakes it for being round when it is actually oval. Either way it was an outstanding pick up and I would look great sitting on my desk for the Dower that it was priced. Thank you very much.

I've been away from the form for a while, but as soon as I seen this, it drew me back life gets in the way and we forget about what we love. I hope to be pretty frequent on the forms again due to this piece. Hope you all have a great new year.

I don’t know if it’s a specific known piece, but the simple answer is that it’s a large reproduction of the Libertas Americana medal, though the face looks slightly different so it’s not an exact replica.

By John Mercanti. Fairly recent production. I'm not finding a definitive reference.

What is the metal composition, if known?

Google lens has gotten me absolutely nowhere.

As for what it is made from? Absolutely no clue no markings whatsoever but what I will say is it melts an ice cube exactly like a precious metal. I've spent about two hours trying to find out what the heck this is, what it is made from and I've had absolutely no luck. That is why I inquired here. I know we have a great wealth of knowledge and it also gave me a reason to return

Based on the color and the context, I'm 80% sure it's pewter.

That one is round on the case. Wonder if they made different styles? Material looks identical though

I'm pretty sure it's oval in that picture but I agree it's hard to be certain. You could ask the seller, if you care.

Side comment: this is why Google mistakes it for being round (in your first comment above). It's very hard to tell round from oval reliably, in pictures.
