Franklin mint sets in silver

Way back these sets sold at a premium to silver at the prevailing spot price. In the course of a few years they lost their following and many sets were produced in mintages of just a couple hundred. Is there renewed interest today? Presumably some sets have been sold over time, and they are likely scarcer than their original mintages. Anyone have a better sense of the popularity of Franklin Mint issues today?

I will pick up Franklin Mint set silve whenever I see it and it is reasonably priced. I don't go out looking specifically for it, but I have seveal pieces and small collections in my collection. To me, silver is silver.
There is not an accurate answer that I can provide mainly because there is a level of uncertainty with the mintages, the number of sets distributed, and the number actually sold. There is also a large issue in terms of the number sets that were melted at various times when silver spiked. It is all about the surviving population which is somewhat problematic to accurately get numbers for the surviving populations.
I think this is a fair question for the World coin forum and I suspect you might get some better responses there.

How did I miss this post? This is right up my alley.
My view is that the FM was an interesting enterprise when it came to coin mintage. Some of the silver sets are quite scarce, like those from the 1984 year from Belize, Cayman, Papua, Panama, Barbados, etc.
Also of not the silver Panama set even from the more common year of 1975 have a net of nearly 5.8 oz of silver, which at 90 dollars per ounce putting the silver value of 500+ dollars!
But there is a collector interest that seems of decent level as especially the scarcer dates which have generated some contest as they come up.
Anyway, PM me or continue to post and I will respond.
