Question on several PCGS Notes
I have several notes that I'm unsure of the history of and potential value of. Any help would be appreciated.
First Note: 2003A Star note with the designation of "SAMPLE". What does this mean?
Second Note: 1963 Note that has the designation of "Mule: Back of Silver Certificate, Face of FRN".

Not sure what "SAMPLE" means.
"Mule: Back of silver certificate, face of FRN" means basically that it's an error note. The back of the note is from a silver certificate, but the front of the note is a regular Federal Reserve Note (meaning an ordinary dollar bill)
Disclaimer: not a huge collector of notes, but these both appear to be in very nice condition. They're definitely collectible, but I don't think they're overly valuable.
A very quick eBay search for sold items yields approx $5-30 value for the 2003 star note (https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=2003+star+note+$1+65ppq&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1) and the best comparable I saw for the 1963 mule was the one that sold on Dec 12, 2025 by indiana_coins_and_collectibles for $13 (https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=1963+$1+mule+FRN/silver+certificate&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&LH_TitleDesc=0&_odkw=2003+star+note+$1+65ppq&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1)
A local dealer will probably be able to give you a better overview than I could.

pcgs used to give "samples" to people as a thank you for becoming a member of pcgs collectors or renew memberships.
