insert pricing and relevance

every jordan fleer sticker is worth more than the regular issue in psa 9 and 10. except the rookie year. there are about 40% of the stickers in 10 as the regular card. why the discrepency. when you get to the 90's the inserts are off the chart compared to the regular cards, can't compare any of them
then we jump to 1986 fleer baseball. nolan ryan insert (blue card) sells for around $300, in psa 10 pop 29. the regular fleer sells for around $1,250, pop 74. why? insert cards in the 90's (refractors, black borders, dominators, elite, etc) always go for several multiples more, but why?
1987 topps 1000 rice psa 10 sells for about the same or a little less than his regular card. pop 414 on the regular and 26 on the 1000 yard card.
so only the 90's and above inserts mean anything?
am i missing something?

I regret shrugging at the 90s when it was fresh. At the time being a partner and running a store meant convincing pack rippers to buy them. In hindsight, it would have been more sensible to get some of my own and hoard those Jordans. My son collected some of that stuff, though. Could you imagine just being a kid hanging out in a card store? 😏
I collected 90s inserts during the 90s, but I do remember feeling discouraged though. previous to those coming out, it was feasible to collect all of your fav. players cards. once the insert/parallel era happened, that was out the window.

Isn't the logic in prices sometimes is that there is no logic? I'm pretty sure Mr Spock said something like that.

inserts on ryan and rice really surprise me. prices are really low considering how collected both are. of couse the 1986 jordan sticker really makes no sense. really tough in high grade
I like those Topps cards like Glossy All-Stars and Rookies in baseball. That 1000 yard stuff is similar I think. 1987 Topps Football seems to be on the rise. All that late 80s Topps Football seems to be gaining speed.
