A friend of a friend found this in a roll of dimes. I have not seen it in person and just wanted to get opinions on it for my friend, Thanks.

Would need to be seen in hand (or at least better pictures) but it has the correct appearance for a partially missing clad layer. Value would be on the order of $50 if so, say maybe $20-100. That type of error isn't in high demand, but that's a nice example will full red and the current year.

It does appear to be a missing clad layer on the rev. IF your friend can weigh it to two decimal places it should be slightly underweight. Nice find in change/roll.

A good example of that type of planchet defect.

That sort of error isn't guaranteed to be underweight. But if the weight is low, that would pretty much seal the deal.

Too bad the Roosevelt market is not very strong. Neat find!

  • My opinion based on the pics only is $50.

    Much more than that.
