    The announcement by Guerin at his presser that Gustavsson needs hip surgery - minor or not - was rather odd.

    Could be a spin by Guerin to help increase his trade value? The bigger question is when exactly did he get hurt and did he notify the team that he was even injured? I don't recall that being something I read about during the post-season. I'm not sure he was taking questions for the press to clarify that situation...

    I would think you need to figure a way to trade GusBus & get what you can. I read they have a Slovakian named Hlajav that's young (24) so he could be the Jesper backup. I don't think they can afford to pay $7M to him given the need to pay Hughes --

    I agree with the above that someone will want him but at what price... may be good to just get a draft pick and a backup.

    Not sure why so many want to dump Gus. Since coming here, he's had a very nice .911 Save %.

    I don't understand how surgery would increase his trade value, at least for now.

    Wallstedt had a fantastic rookie year. I think it might be premature to go "all in" with him so quickly and it really all comes down to Gus accepting a trade. How many guys have waived their no move? Why negotiate it if you're just going to waive it?

    I just got done reading about Hlavaj, His last season at Iowa was poor, but he really impressed for Slovakia's Olympic team. Wallstedt didn't look to good in Iowa his last year there either. Might be an Iowa problem.

    I figured if Gus is on the block, what teams need a goalie and can afford to pay him AND offer him the #1 goalie spot AND have a center to offer;

    Florida might be interested in a goalie. Bobrovsky's huge contract is expiring $10.M. He might be washed up at 38 with a pretty bad year last season. They might be willing to trade Center Anton Lundell, 25 yrs old next year, he's not a huge scorer but has decent size at 6' 1" 200 pounds, is above 50% in face offs and is exactly the kind of player the Wild like, a 200 foot 2 way guy.

    San Jose is another possibility with Carey Price also at the end of his career $10.5M contract is over and back up Askarov not impressive. I really like Collin Graf, originally undrafted, a RIGHT SHOT Center who has "elite" speed, great on the penalty kill, good size at 6' 1",1 190lbs and just 24 years old, he's bad on face offs. He is a RFA making very little money on his entry level contract. I see he is "offer sheet unavailable" what the heck does that mean?

    Anaheim has goalie issues, but they are (over)paying Dostal $6.5 for another 4 years. I really like Leo Carlsson! I doubt the Ducks would let him go, but they do need an upgrade at goalie. Carlsson probably untouchable.

    Vancouver is already paying $13M for their below average goalies. they seem to think Thatcher Demko is the answer. Lankinen has a no move contract. I don't see them as having a center for us (Teddy Blueger?) and how much money are they going to tie up in bad goalie contracts. even if they were willing to move Elias Pettersson, who also has a no move, he makes $12M and hasn't been as good the past 2 seasons.

    I know everyone thinks we have got to have a superstar Center, but where do you find one that's available and willing to move and IF we can sign Quinn (big if) we might not have a lot of cap room.

    The wild still have to fill out their roster and I'm tired of all the bottom 6 guys being league minimum guys and/or rookies. We have some top end talent, but need much better bottom 6 players who don't get exposed against good teams in the playoffs. Just my opinion.

    Thoughts?
