Two 1804 Type III bust dollars for auction within 2+ months!
I noticed in Heritage’s mass email today, dispatched just minutes after StacksBowers auctioned their James Stack
specimen for over $5 million, that the Amon Carter 1804 type III will be up for auction in conjunction with the January FUN Orlando show. Given the very short time between the SB auction and the FUN announcement, there must have been an agreement to hold off the FUN announcement until the SB auction of their dollar. Otherwise the $5M + price realized would have almost certainly been negatively affected.

I doubt anyone seriously bidding on the 65 would settle for the AU. But maybe. Shrug
Do the trophy hunters even want a Type III?
Its hype to me. As long as the new owner is happy its all beautiful, just saying
I wouldn’t want an off quality Class III, but I’d be happy to own the only gem.
