Need advice on 1990s-2005 baseball cards
I am a vintage collector, so I know nothing about cards from this era, other than most were mass produced and are worthless.
My son collected collected several thousand cards from this era (1990s-2005) that he/we recently discovered in boxes under a bed.
We don't believe there are any autographed cards, 1 of 1s, etc. Most are HOFers (tons of Griffey, Bonds, Ripken, Ryan, Thomas, etc.), and many are very attractive. Most have been in protective holders for years. As we go through these, are there any cards we need to keep a lookout out for before we donate most/all to the local cards shop?
Suggestions appreciated.
David
Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.

Bowman Chrome and Topps Chrome refractors of big stars can be worth good money from that era.

Dial up Ebay.... enter key words and find out the value in a PSA 10 ... take it from there...
look for serial numbers. front or back. different cards had them in different places.
some 90s inserts/parallels are VERY valuable.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Ken Griffey Jr and Nolan Ryan cards can be valuable.
Otherwise some rookie cards are worth $. Billy Ripken error card and Randy Johnson's too. Both are 89 Fleer, do not 1990's but close.
Jeter has some good cards in that era.
Hope you find some gems!
What Craig said. I have a hoard from 90 thru 2000, over 100,000 cards stuffed in monster boxes. Every so often, I look for what’s currently popular on eBay, then go for a treasure hunt. Inserts, parallels, refractors!, numbered, auto’d, etc. There’s more interest in this stuff when it’s cheap, so I’m glad I didn’t dump them.
and also, dont worry if you have no autos. in the 90s, the most valuable baseball cards are generally not autos, but rare inserts/parallels. think mirror golds, crusades, PMG, super raves, platinum golds, rare refractors, starting 9's, essential credentials and so so many more.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Thanks for the suggestions!
There are tons of Griffeys and Ryans (as well as Bonds, Ripken, Thomas). We're not that familiar with inserts, parallels, and such as that. We'll look for serial numbers and unusual cards.

In addition to the items/players mentioned above: Just like Griffey, Chipper's RC's are super plentiful and mass-produced, but still worth pulling if you can find ones that would grade a 10. Same goes for other RC's, like Pedro, Rivera, Piazza, A-Rod, Pudge, Mussina, etc., and even the newly elected Kent (at least this week, anyway). Excluding inserts/premium issues, for the most part cards like these won't be worth the grading costs if they get a 9. With '90's baseball, it's often 10 or bust, but there can be worthwhile payoffs with 10's if you take the time to study and you have a good eye.
I think I get it. Most of these cards are not worth much unless they are graded 10 or unless they are inserts, premium issues, etc.
Thanks for the advice/suggestions.

Do you have anything from 1989?
If you have any 90s inserts, refractors, acetates, serial numbered or otherwise for Mattingly or Sandberg, I'm an interested collector. Let me know if you find anything shiny for them. Thanks.
