Now that the penny is gone....

lsicalsica Posts: 1,747 ✭✭✭✭

How am I supposed to check the wear on my tires?..... ;);)

Seriously tho, think of all the idioms and just day by day things we use and say that refer to "pennies". In a generation or two or probably less all of those are going to turn into "jeez I wonder why they say that" sort of things.....

Philately will get you nowhere....

My album penny collection ends with the 1974 issues. Why 1974 you ask? Well, 1975 was the first year of production of more than 5 billion pennies by a US mint so I'm thinking 1974 is a good year to end my penny collection with. Besides, my Whitman albums,1909-1940 and 1941- have openings for all regular business strike issues 1909 through 1974 and not a penny more can I put in them. I really never have cared much for the bust of Lincoln on the penny that the Mint came up with to replace Brenner's original masterful design. And 95% zinc composition starting in 1982? For the grass. The zinc issue pennies make good fertilizer and that's about all they good for. No tears here. The 2009 Chronicles set should be going up in value steadily as the years go by is my prediction so forget the 2025 proof issue. It's a waste of money. Buy Chronicles instead. You all heard it here first.

Einstein’s view of God was non-traditional and pantheistic, focusing on the harmony, order, and intelligibility of the cosmos rather than a personal deity. His quotes reveal a profound respect for the universe’s mysteries, a belief in rational laws, and a moral philosophy grounded in compassion and understanding, bridging science and spirituality.

“My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind.”

    Albert Einstein (14 March 1879--18 April 1955)

"Penny wise and pound foolish" has continued long after most in the US stopped thinking of "pound" as a unit of money.

My Proof Cent album will still have spots for 20 more coins after the current issue. Coincidentally, 2025 was the last year I had printed when I built the book in 2021.

You shouldn't have a problem filling in more Proof 1C coins over the next several years.
I don't think that they've mentioned the finish for the upcoming numismatic 1C yet, but I suspect that the proof coins will continue without interruption.
