Polymarket,a gambling site.
in Sports Talk
Just saw this on 60 Minutes. Over 10,000 betting options. On the Stock Exchange now. Anyone else hear of it? They even offered betting on the LA fire, how many acres would be burned.

I'm already in with Draft Kings, haven't heard of it though.
These sites are everywhere now, it's the newest coolest thing and it's taken the sports world by storm
Wonder when "regular" sports gambling sites will divert and add these crazy non-sports options. Have heard of betting on celebrity deaths. Or in a group of 4 or 5 who will be the last standing. Like a tontine.
I think there are sites that allow political races to bet on, Oscars and other events like that
There are some. Other than DK and Fan Duel a lot of them make me nervous about whether or not they would actually pay you or have the money to do so if some major long shots happen so many of them have come up.

100% agree
I am thankful that I never got interested in gambling. when something does interest me, I tend to go in 110%. I am sure that i would literally be living in a van down by the river if i was into it!!

I think Polymarket is now available in all 50 states. Not 100% sure.
But I am pretty sure that very likely at least some states will ban it during their particular state's next legislative session. We shall see what happens there.
In any event, it does add a new dimension to sports betting although Polymarket is not a bookie. It's bettors wagering against each other, rather than against a bookie.
I've got a lot more to learn about this, but I think Polymarket grabs around a 5% commission off each bet. So if comparing Polymarket odds versus the bookies, keep that in mind.
My guesstimation is that the best Polymarket values in sports betting may be when the odds are first released. There may be some discrepancies between the bookie odds and Polymarket odds, resulting in some interesting opportunities. But you'd better be lightening fast about it. There are perhaps millions of others out there who will be trying the exact same thing. Any "gap" in the odds will likely be quickly filled.
