For a little over three years I have cherry picked this group of random unattributed varieties in PCGS holders. I traded a few coins to a friend who recently sent 10 to PCGS for reholder and variety attribution. The results were 80% successful attribution. Of the two that did not pass, one unquestionably is the variety, a 1943 P FS 102, https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/comment/13181110#Comment_13181110
and the other fail was a strongly possible 1913 type 2 DDO. https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1115469/is-this-1913-t2-a-ddo-1101#latest

The coins were received by PCGS ON 10/3/25 and arrived back 10/24/25 which is fast compared to when I used to send PCGS coins directly. Good job on the speed of the order. Also, all modern trueviews were provided for free!
Overall it was a nice deal for both me and my buddy who got a few varieties for a new set he is building. Saving the best news for last, here are the successful attributions! 😃

First up is a 1913 type 2 ddr I cherry picked a few years ago.

1913 S type 2 mislabeled as a type 1 VF25

Then a 1917 S 2 feather 🪶

Next a 1930 FS103 DDO

There were two 1938 QDO FS105 a 65FS and a 66FS respectively

The 66 below

Then changing lanes a Walker 1941 S FS901 missing feathers.

1941 PR67 reholder

1953 proof FS401 re engraved ribbon

Not shown is a 1956 FS102 DDO.

2005 Bison DDO FS101

@Aspie_Rocco . what a great eye you have. i too love to cherry pick. My most recent is a 1906-D Barber dime that appears to be FS-10-1906d-303. you cherrypick for someone else's collection? Or did i misunderstand that. james

Thank you. I Cherry pick for myself, sometimes for resale, and sometimes directly for other collectors. I also occasionally disclose listings of unattributed variety coins that I am not interested in or lack the capital to buy. A few of the collectors I previously traded with will get random texts altering them to varieties on eBay or GC, and I post some on this forum from time to time.

My next group waiting for grading/attribution is a bunch of raw coins, and a few ANACS / NGC crack-outs. Those are also mostly nickels.

    Since July I picked a 1913 type 1 ddr buffalo in pcgs ms63, another 1913 S type 2 with a pcgs type 1 label, 1927 S 2 feather F15, a 1943 P FS102 in NGC MS66, a few more 1938 FS105 or FS106, and 1945 d DDO nickels. I also have a raw collection of Franklin Bugs Bunny and doubled dies, but they will probably stay in a Dansco.

The rejected 1913 T2 Buffalo Nickel does appear to have the messed up F below the date. Wear prevents me from seeing other attributes. Great attention and knowledge.
