Sunrise or Sunset? Some toned Morgan photos...

There used to be some pretty technical discussions about toning, thin film interference etc. but not so much lately, this coin made me thing of them. I have an 1880-S that has great toning...but only at an angle and shows how thin the toning can be, as the coin is a bit dark and the toning well, a bit dark also when viewed straight on. Pretty transparent layer of toning as a lot of the silver color shows through without any bold colors. But just tilting the coin and at the right angle the color really shows. And hides some of the marks on the chin area without any alteration of the photos!

This coin was picked up from a bank back in the mid 60's and has spent some time in a blue book. Nothing was done to it AFAIK, just time and environment.

Coin straight on shot under LED lighting...nothing special here.

Here is the obverse with the same lighting, same camera setup, just tilting the coin a bit:

And here is the reverse...the orange really pops out! Reminds me of a sunset :)
