Are You Planning On Or Have You Liquidated Any Cards To Invest In The Gold/Silver Markets?
With the hot precious
metals market seems somewhat tempting. Gold over 4k an ounce, silver over $50. Both continue to rise.

It's passed through my thick skull.
COPPER is gutter !

Hi @BLUEJAYWAY, I was actually thinking about selling my silver now to upgrade my silver later. I have a small group of Walking Liberty haves and Morgan & Peace dollars in cull and G-4 condition that I was thinking about selling now, and if the price of silver goes back down later, I would scoop up some VG examples to keep going on my set. I am a "set completer" in both cards and coins, so I get a rush from filling in my missing slots whether it be in a 9-pocket Ultra Pro page or a Whitman folder.
However I am just one data point and I am curious what others think. Silver right now is certainly going through some interesting times and it can make one think about trading cardboard for precious metal.
buying O-Pee-Chee (OPC) baseball cards
also collecting US & Canadian silver coins
No. I am still adding to my topps and Bowman cards from the 1950s.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
seems like all time highs would be the worst time to buy?
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Conventional wisdom would have suggested buying at the beginning of the year. It still may be worthwhile with predictions of 5K oz. for gold sometime soon.
Bank of America today say they expect $65 Silver in 2026.

I'll be glad to sell my Junk Wax for metals... Any one need 90 Leaf Thomas', 90 Fleer Jordan's or a gross of 88 Topps Mackey Sasser's...

So glad psa made it hard to get things graded for vintage cards the last three years. Made me look at coins more. been insane and fast. I wonder what this will do to pcgs. Now a lot of quality high grade coins are now just being melted and grading doesn’t even add much value and is a negative cost adding almost no value from what I can tell.
I'm not selling cards to do it and not buying the physical gold but I did add to a position of a publicly traded company that mines for gold earlier today.
Have been liquidating my sports cards that are less appealing/duplicates to buy TCG/Pokemon cards that also have been rising a bit.
Please check in with your doctor as you seem to be forgetting how frequently you make this post
Funny stuff. No matter the opinions on junk, I’ve got Frank to thank for making ‘90 Leaf my slam dunk for all the years it was commanding good money. I still keep a few of them around so I have somewhere to heap my admiration.
Didn't sell cards, but in the same boat as handyman. Discouraged with PSA and started picking up silver rounds two and a half years ago just for kicks making a couple purchases a month. Accumulated around 800 ounces of silver.
Thanks for the Montage I will be adding many more posts like that for you to include in the next one for you to spend your time assembling.

Another fun way to look at it now.
Just 6-10 oz of gold can now get you a PSA 1-2 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle and 16oz for a PSA 4.
T206 Red Cobb SGC 3 for 1oz of gold.
Crazy
Rumor has it that PCGS will be focusing all their efforts into grading Chuck E Cheese tokens and vintage coins will have to take a back seat.
Intrinsically yep

I’m hanging on to my gold. It’s $4k when things are shaky., imagine where it goes when the market and crypto come down…..
Rather have the gold in this market. I think if push comes to shove more people are apt to take gold in trade than a sports card. Gold is universally traded. Larger market as well. There is just something special and appealing about the yellow metal. Been that way for 1000's of years
Can’t wait to trade one oz for a 1952 topps mantle psa 1. But I’m afraid my electricity and water won’t be working at that time. Crazy times
You guys just made me buy more shares of Newmont Corporation. I get that the shiny stuff is cool but I like the idea of getting rid of it with a click click.
I suppose that is the same as keeping your awesome cards in the Vault. But I always want the cards in hand.
I have never purchased gold bullion. is it easier to sell/trade the smaller units rather than a full ounce at a time? like 1/10 ounce, 1/4, 1/2 or the small 1 gram bars.
I know it is cheaper to purchase a full ounce at a time, just thinking about the potential resale.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
As a coin collector this pains me to say, but for the purposes of an investment, liquidation for cash at fair market price to a deep liquid market is of paramount importance. Unless you are a coin collector or are keeping physical bullion for intrinsic reasons, holding the investment in ETF form in a brokerage or retirement account is the most sensible and cost effective way by far.
All metals had heavy pullback yesterday but positioning was probably getting extreme. It's a great long term investment especially for those over exposed to Nasdaq and AI.
All time highs is when I would be cashing out a popping into underperforming assets. What those are in this market is hard to say though.

if I could get 10's with 8 centering, like this one, I would have bought a carload of gold by now
