            I need help attributing this 1878 8tf. Thanks for anyone who knows the vams on these. Die cracks on the perimeter of the obverse and some mintmade marks on the reverse.

In future, you should take the time to take better photos if you are requesting ID's.
Also, it is not likely that you will pick up any rare Vams merely by chance - those take a lot of searching. Generally speaking, if you can't ID them yourself, you probably don't need to worry about them.

Correct, because that's what rare means. You increase your chances, however, by targeting circulated and one-sided PL coins. Rare still means your chances aren't good, but they're slightly improved.
