I think I would like opinions of GB crown collectors.

I don't collect the crowns but the price and no TPG would be a red light.
The coin itself looks pretty good, however the areas of toning loss look to be signs of artificial toning. The strike and surface qualities are difficult to make out under that toning.
Something about the edge milling looks off but can't quite put my finger on it.
The usual wimpy way out: would want to see it in hand.
    Buyer beware.

I don't collect these but it is a highly faked coin. The price is suspicious. There is no weight given - who sells coins of that value without a weight? The toning could well be artificial, and disguise the signs of a fake (given many of these include marks on the die, the toning masks these).

One such mark that is visible is perhaps this, highlighted on another forum that seems to match:

Another check is the alignment of the edge lettering: "The 'V' of 'Victoria' will align approximately with 'et' on the edge and with 'tur' of 'tueatur' on the reverse." But you can't see if that's the case or not in the photos.

  • I just feel for this price, it is too good to be true. The patina seems odd too.
