I’m auctioning off some of my coins to raise funds to further my circulated type sets. Many of these coins are ones I submitted myself over the years, nice coins that I like a lot but that don’t fit in with my circulated type sets that are my main passion these days. I’ll post links and pictures a few at a time over the next few days.
This first one is a coin I bought about 20 years ago at a coin show in Charlotte that was part of a mint set. I bought the whole set and this coin was the best one, GC sent it to CAC and it got a green stickers.
Here’s a link to the auction.

And here’s my iPhone picture I took a few years ago
And here’s Phil Arnold’s Great Collections photo, I like how he captured the rainbow toning around the whole rim on the reverse, I could only capture part of it with my iPhone, but I like how I captured the lavender toning on the obverse better with my iPhone.
And here’s GC’s slab shot

And here’s a record showing I submitted it to PCGS in 2011

The next coin is another Franklin, one I purchased raw back in Charlotte about 20 years ago that I submitted to PCGS back in 2011 in the same submission as the above coin. GC submitted it to CAC and it too got a green sticker.

And here’s Phil’s Great Collections photo, he captured it’s toning perfectly
Here’s my iPhone picture, I couldn’t capture the toning on this proof coin like Phil did, mine came out looking more similar to GC’s slab shots

Nice coins! I do not need any of those. Good luck with the auction.
The third coin is another one from by box of raw coins I purchased back in Charlotte about 20 years ago. I submitted it to PCGS in October of 2021. GC submitted it to CAC and it got a green sticker

Next are a group of modern mint products that I bought from the mint. I stored the coins in their capsules in jars with desiccant prior to submitting them a few at a time to PCGS over the years.

Mr Spud. Nice coins. Good luck on the auction. I clicked on one of your links - the 2006 Buffalo Gold PR70. I noticed your reserve at $2,000.00. I was just curious why you decided to open the lot at $2,000.00?
Wondercoin.
Thanks Wondercoin. I told the GC people to use their best judgement and I let them pick the reserve. I don’t have much experience in selling through this type of auction, so better for me to let them pick. But I often remember getting higher final bids on eBay back when I used to sell there if I started coin auctions at $1. More early low ball hits and sometimes I’d get people out sniping each other at the end that had started with lowball bids, so I’d probably try that at GC if I had to choose, but like I said, I’d rather trust their judgement at this point in time.
Mr_Spud
I understand. And, I will certainly never question the strategy decisions of the good folks over at GC. I simply had the same initial reaction as you did. Good luck again with the moderns. I will circle back in a few weeks to have a look at the auctions with a couple days to go.

Here’s a group of Morgan Dollars in the auction.
