It. Is. Finished.

As if the Tigers wildcard series win over Cleveland wasn't enough fun for one day, this arrived in the mail today:

Here is the scan from the PSA web-site:

With this arrival, my 1953 Topps PSA set registry is complete, with all 274 cards being PSA 2 through PSA 6 as follows:

PSA 2: 45 cards
PSA 2.5: 8 cards
PSA 3: 72 cards
PSA 3.5: 7 cards
PSA 4: 90 cards
PSA 4.5: 9 cards
PSA 5: 29 cards
PSA 6: 14 cards

The first 3 cards were purchased on December 31, 2003, making this nearly a 22 year long pursuit.

This set joins my 1954 Topps and 1955 Topps Registry sets as complete:

Do you have pictures of your cards in the registry?

Unfortunately only the ones that PSA graded later and scanned. Not sure why my pictures are squished on the laptop, they look fine on a phone...

Nice job! Love the Mick. I am currently working on a project to collect a PSA graded Topps baseball card from 1952 (their first year) to the present. Need about 50 more cards to complete. I figure it will take me a year. I'm looking at PSA 4 or better depending on cost for the older cards and PSA 8, 9, or 10 for the newer (past 15 years) cards. It is a fun journey.

    Congrats...

That is tough to follow. I made a dent in my '53 topps set recently as well, I was able to find the Ford, Schantz, Podres and Haddix cards at once. Offhand, I think I am down to 20-25 including the Mantle. What a fun set this to pursue and the random luck involved in finding certain cards adds to the thrill of the hunt. I think the Podres card is tougher than most think, but my perception is likely jaded by how few decent ones I have seen.

    Congratulations, Tom!
    That Mantle is a beast.
You were a huge help when I built my 55 set. Man, that was about 15 years ago. Where does the time go?

First of all congratulations Tom. Secondly, I'm on board with any post that brings out Downtown1974. Hope you're doing well Bob.
