When to release a coin from my registry sets.

Gotta quick question. I am breaking up my registry sets and sold a coin on eBay today. Are there any rules governing when to release it from my set? I don't want to release it until it is delivered to the buyer. Am I wrong? Thoughts are appreciated.

Sounds good. I would’ve released it after payment cleared.

I seldom sell but on those occasions I wait until I have notification of delivery. That way if it gets lost on the way I'll be notified if someone other than the buyer tries to register it.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I wait until buyer contacts me it is received, or until a legit request comes in, through PCGS, asking for it to be released.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Your question might also get more traction on the Registry board of this site as there has been a long discussion on this topic there.
However, I am of the opinion that once a coin is paid for, delivered and the buyer informs me that they are keeping it that the coin should be released from any set that I have control over.

For auction or dealer consignments, I promptly delete them from my sets once coins are received. I want the buyer to have no difficulty immediately placing in their sets.
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
If I sell a coin I remove it the same day I send the coin to the dealer or auction house.
I find it annoying when I buy a coin and can’t add it because it hasn’t been released from someone’s registry. So then you have to send the email- then they often never answer- then you have to send pics of the front and back of the coin with a date stamp- I’m not that inconsiderate and don’t want to cause that hassle for someone else.
Like @Catbert and @Floridafacelifter said, when I consign a coin to a dealer or auction house, I mark it as “Sold” once they confirm they received the coin. (Once the coin is actually sold down the road, I then go back to my Sold Registry listings and add in the net I received). This way, if potentially interested buyers look up the cert #, they’ll have peace of mind if they get that coin, they can immediately add it to their Registry set(s). Why chase away a couple of potential bidders/buyers if they fear a hassle/extra work on their part if they buy that coin?
