Also need a little Deion Sanders pep talk from the past: "Not in my house".
Last minute I threw in the US team in a football parlay with ML Bills,Lions, and over 38.5 in Titans game.
    USA,USA,USA.

This has not been an enjoyable watch. Brutal. Some events were Rory displaying the finger and a choice word to the crowd. And today's minor dust up with Bryson,Tommy,Justine Rose and a caddy. Wonder how many USA supporters show up tomorrow. I assume ones with prepaid tickets will.

it got rather contentious out there

i saw DeChambeau & Fleetwood jawing, Ted Scott and Molinari jawing, Rory flipping off fans and telling them to shut the f up

amid all of that, a curb stomping is taking place

I suspect when team USA gets to the next cup in Europe they are really going to hear it from the fans. What with the exchange between Rory and our fans in this Ryder.

What I heard today from someone who was there was that it was an embarrassment. He likened it to NASCAR. Loud and Stupid.

That was the bad and hopefully it doesn’t overshadow the performance of team USA on day 2. Which was incredible.

What do you guys think of the fans yelling obscenities at the players? It’s not abnormal for the Ryder Cup to be a little boisterous but was this over a line?

spectators generally have a long leash at golf tournaments. as long as it's not profane or highly offensive, paying customers can conjure up the most idiotic thing imaginable and yell it at the top of their lungs after a golfer swings. it obviously can't be during it. if you've ever been to a tourney yourself or watched one on television, i'm sure you've heard brilliant things like "mashed potatoes," "light the candle" and the like. that's not the norm when you break down the percentage of imbeciles who do such a thing, but it does happen. and when it does, i always wish i had a razor-sharp object to impale that individual with. it's senseless and detracts from the experience. but because some people know they basically have free rein on a golf course, they proceed. and not unlike any other sporting event, booze plays a huge factor as well.

then we get to the Ryder Cup, which is a different beast altogether. everything is amplified. all of a sudden you go from watching individual golfers compete against one another to entering an "us vs. them" atmosphere. i don't know what the numbers were over the course of three days, but rest assured that mentality was shared by hundreds of thousands of fans who flooded that track. i'm sure the picture is becoming clear now: an untold number liquored up, a home game for our team, and the green light to verbalize to the point of acting a fool. but UNLIKE every other sporting event, the proximity factor is vastly different. you can get close enough to those guys to practically rub elbows with them. close enough to launch a drink and drill Rory's wife, which happened.

there's no panacea. there's simply not enough manpower to police that many people. all they can possibly do is surround those golfers as best they can, and eject one by one if need be. but to the point of the person who was there, it's raucousness on steroids at the Ryder Cup. avoiding mayhem is a virtual impossibility. when you see guys like Rory unleashing f-bombs like it's going out of style and Shane Lowry being restrained from going after a fan, the line in the sand clearly has been crossed. so what do you do? devise a level of decorum and expect half a million people to adhere to it? prohibit beer sales? that's not going to happen, and that's not going to happen. there is no solution.

what's really crazy is that if it was a regular PGA tour stop, or if it was a major, those same spectators would have been cheering guys like McIlroy and Lowry on. the European players are extremely likeable. i've been around most of them and they are very fan-friendly and amenable with their time. there is absolutely no reason not to like any of them. unless a football game breaks out and they are on the other team, that is. then it's time to treat them and their supporting cast like yesterday's garbage. it's completely nonsensical, but it falls directly in line with the type of behavior that's witnessed at big four events.

I have only been to one Ryder Cup. 2016 at Hazeltine. I was also at both PGAs there, the first with my dad. That was a completely different environment. Perhaps it was because the US had a great day 1 but it was more playful than hostile. That’s also the last PGA event I’ve been to so it may generally be different. I used to go to the GMO every year when I was young. That was perhaps the most rowdy I remember. Used to love going to play Brown Deer after the GMO because the greens would still be perfect for a few weeks. We chased Tiger around that course at his first event.

Wonder if being in Ny and close to NYC had anything to do with it. Yankee fans can get really vocal at times.
