Slowly building a toned cent registry as cheaply as possible

AlanSkiAlanSki Posts: 1,949 ✭✭✭✭✭

I started a project a few years ago building a registry of toned cents found raw in eBay albums. The majority of the albums were purchased for under $50 each. Yes, I know my photos suck. Some have already been graded and some are waiting to go. Here’s my slow progress so far.

@AlanSki. Very nice! Casting no aspersions on your coins, how has pcgs been on calling them nt vs at/qt?

Very difficult ones to find there so far! The 1930s and 1940s and 1950s seem to show up a lot more frequently than the later dates you have found. Bravo!

I haven’t received an AT coin yet with any of my subs. These are a couple I’ve subbed in the past but sold off since then. The 62D, at the time, was the first AU58+ graded by PCGS for memorial cents. I haven’t checked the pops since then.

I subbed this and it ended up being a solo top pop. I sold it off after receiving stupid money for a memorial cent. MS66BN. 1960D LD. I originally bought it raw from someone either here or coin talk for around $16.

You paid $16 for a raw brown uncirculated Memorial Cent?

Years ago (2010-2013?) I paid $10 for a pretty toned gem BU CN clad Washington Quarter. It was eventually graded PCGS MS67+ and I sold it for big money. I know of no other person in my area who would have considered paying that kind of money for pocket change. The coin was a beaut!

Nice. Only about 80 more to go if you are only doing memorial reverse.

Toned sets are slow to build. Not Sagrada Familia slow, but definitely a “long haul” kinda thing.
