PSA Submission Help: Adding Auto Grade to an Already Slabbed Card

Quick PSA submission question:

I have a Lamine Yamal PSA 10 Topps Chrome Auto and would like the autograph grade added to the slab. I'm essentially looking to have a PSA 10 grade for both the card and auto on the slab.

I’m seeing conflicting info online and via AI tools:
• Do I need to submit as “Card + Auto”, or can I do “Auto Grade Only”?
• If it’s “Auto Grade Only,” does PSA re-grade the card or just grade the auto and add it to the existing card grade?
• Is the turnaround time actually faster with “Auto Grade Only”?

Main concern: I don’t want to risk the card grade being re-evaluated and dropping to a 9, since that would cut thousands off the value.

Appreciate any clarification!

IMHO your chances of Card dropping to a 9 OR 8 are significantly higher than it remaining a 10.

It's your money of course but is the huge risk worth the potential reward?

You can submit it under review (dual grade card + auto) and set min grade for the card as 10 (and any min grade you'll accept for the auto). You send it in still in the slab. It's no guarantee that it will pass review as a 10, and there's less of a chance that it does while in the slab.

The grader will review the card and determine whether it will remain a 10 and meet whatever qualification you add for the autograph.

Good luck. I usually share pictures/ scans with a few others and get their feedback. Most of the time I'm disappointed, but my bias is usually too strong to overcome on my own. Again, good luck, and may I recommend lowered expectations.

Thanks for the reply back. This what ChatGBT tells me which sounds a lot different from what you're referencing....

Use the “Autograph Grade Only submission”:
    • This service takes an already PSA-graded card and adds just the autograph grade.
    • PSA will keep your existing card grade (10) and won’t re-evaluate the card itself.
    • They’ll only evaluate the signature and add it to the label (e.g., “GEM MT 10, AUTO 10”).

That would be news to me. If it does work would you report back on your result please?
