San Antonio, TX - San Antonio Spurs forward Malik Rose signed a seven-year, $42 million contract with the team Thursday, the San Antonio Express-News reported.

Noooo. We (lakers) were expected to make a run at malik rose. oh well.

LEWIS NOT SOLD YET
Dallas… Chicago… Houston… Does it really matter? I mean its nice to believe that Rashard Lewis will pass on the big money Seattle is offering and sign for an exception somewhere else, the reality is Seattle has a $60 million offer on the table, and despite Rashard’s ruffled feathers at the end of the day the Sonics are offering a lot more than anyone else. But that didn’t stop Dallas from pulling out all the stops in their pursuit of signing Lewis, including cheerleaders posters, and an excessive fan greeting at the airport. Lewis is going to dot he dance, and signing in Dallas’ isn’t a stretch… it just isn’t likely. The Chicago Bulls are rumored to have contracted Lewis and are looking for a visit, but the real move is likely going to be the addition of Matt Harping, who recently became an unrestricted free agent after the 76ers rescinded their qualifying offer sheet. Houston is the default location, simply because Lewis continues to say he wants to play there, the problem is they may not have a roster spot for him. Rockets sources say they are interested, but ‘substantive’ talks have not taken place. So at the end of the day, who wants Lewis the most? The team that can pay him the most.

MAGIC AND CLARK
No they won’t explore the West together, but they may have eyes for each other. Reports from the Orlando Sentinel suggest that both the Magic and Raptors free agent Keon Clark may be looking at a deal. Clark’s agent told the Sentinel’s Jerry Brewer that he knew the Magic had interest saying "I know they're interested, and I think Keon would like to look into playing there... But a lot would have to happen there to make it work... He wouldn't want to sign for much less than he can get. Still, if the situation was right, yeah, he'd consider something short term." While its an interesting idea, the Magic are currently trying to shed some salary in order to sign their draft picks and avoid ther possible luxury tax, so inking Clark to a 3 year deal seems like a stretch.

BUCKNER REACHES A DEAL: Greg Buckner has reached a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers on a 6 year deal worth roughly $18 million. The 76ers are also expected to add Orlando free agent Monty Williams to at the NBA minimum. The Magic had hoped to retain Williams but luxury tax implications have made that unlikely. The 76ers are also closing in on a deal with Rodney Rogers.

SHOPPING ANTONIO: Rumor has it the Spurs are entertaining offers on reserve guard Antonio Daniels. Several teams have expressed interest in AD, and Minnesota and Boston are said to be the top suitors. Daniels is in the last year of his contract, and with the emergence of Tony Parker as the starting guard, AD is not expected to stay in San Antonio beyond this year, hence why the Spurs are listening to trade offers. The Spurs are reluctant to take on any contract years, something most teams are offering. Its likely Daniels is dealt before the NBA trade deadline in February, not because the Spurs don’t want him, it would be because the Spurs do not have the kind of role Daniels is seeking. Because of Daniels relationship with Tim Duncan, a deal would have to yield a better player or solve a roster issue in the process, and it does not appear that the Spurs are working with any urgency to make a deal, simply agreeing that a deal may be in their best interest. A Spurs source said a deal involving Daniels is likely 30/70… meaning a 30% chance a deal gets made.

LAKER REACH DEAL: The LA Lakers have reached a new deal with reserve guard Brian Shaw, printed reports say the deal is worth $1.03 million and is for one year. The club is also expected to formally announce the re-signing of Slava Medvedenko and Jannero Pargo, who will ink a one-year non-guarantee. Pargo has earned a spot on the training camp roster due to his impressive summer league play. Mitch Kupchak indicated to media he would likely add a 13th player, likely a reserve center.

TRADING POSEY: The Rocky Mountain News is reporting that the Nuggets may have offered James Posey to the Cavs for restricted free agent Ricky Davis. Davis and the Cavs are at something of an impasse with their new contract talks and it seems the Nuggets may be willing to meet Ricky’s price, but a sign and trade would be the only way a deal could be reached. Davis is seeking a 6 year deal in the range of $45-50 million, the Cavs are not interested in a long term deal, offer a 3 year deal in the $5-6 million per year range. Nuggets free agent Calbert Chaney reached a contract deal with Utah yesterday, the contract is contingent on him passing a physical

SIGING RIP: Reports form Washington indicate that Wizards guard Richard Hamilton is pushing for an extension on his deal now, rather than waiting until next summer as the team had wanted. The Wizards are poised to have some breathing room under the cap next year, but it seems the economic climate for free agents may get worse next year, and Hamilton is pressing for his deal now. Although reports talked off a maximum contract, Wizards sources say that talks do not involve maximum numbers, but Richard is likely to get a sizeable raise to the tune of $50-60 million over 6 years, if a deal is reached this year. The Wizards have until October 31st to make a deal.

Rose doesn't fit with the Lakers.. the only player we can use is Charles Oakley

btw.. the resigning of both Shaw and especially Medvedenko is a good thing.. Med is a great player who just needs to become more agressive (something all European players need to do when they just start playin' in the NBA)
