Extra-Base Hits (doubles, triples and homers)

Who would have guessed that Corbin Carroll would be leading all of MLB with the most extra-base hits on August 31st? Corbin is a great player -- little guy with lots of power -- and speed (over 20 stolen bases).

    He is fun to watch!

Him and Witt are both great young players, Holiday and Tatis jr are other kids I like as well

Top 10 in total bases is the most impressive aspect to me. Dbags are an annoying team and I hope they don't make a run into the wild card this season. Scary offense.

I was NOT surprised. Suarez was about to be replaced by Blaze Alexander -- a younger guy with quite a bit of promise. The D-Backs won't make the playoffs this year, and so they're trying to find their best team for 2026. They made quite a few trades right before the deadline.

Ok well if I followed the D Backs I might not be surprised 🤷

Yesterday, Corbin Carroll hit a game-tying 3-run homer in the 8th inning. That guy is fun to watch. Too bad the D-Backs bullpen stinks and gave up a game-winning homer in the 9th.

Regarding the ending of the Diamondbacks game - Will Smith of the Dodgers now has 4 career PINCH HIT WALKOFF HOMERUNS.

Trouty only has a total of 3 walkoff homeruns in his entire career. I guess the pitchers with phenomenal movement and velocity only enter the 9th inning of games when Trouty bats.

  • Will Smith of the Dodgers? I just looked him up -- he's pretty good and pretty durable for a 30-yr-old catcher. However, he's not at all exciting to watch compared to the "Extra-Base Hit Machine" named Corbin Carroll -- and that's the topic of this thread.

He has lots of trouble with high fastballs too. As the league figures Corbin out his production could decline. He has too many slumps for me to get super excited about but I’m glad the Dbags have him.

He doesn’t even play catcher like Smith does so barely contributing.

Well, make up your mind! Corbin Carroll bats third for the D-Backs, and he's their team leader for their "scary offense". After 3 years in MLB (2 as an All-Star), Corbin is on a track that leads straight to Cooperstown.

I learned that he has such tiny hands that experts believe he won’t be able to hold a bat in another year or two! What’s going on with his digits?! Are they shrinking or something. #tinyhands #carolshands #dawnfordishes

If that's a question, then use a question mark.

And where do you get your news? Fortune tellers are not too reliable. My real thoughts are "Grow up, hot shot!"

    Grow up indeed!

That's what doctors are saying may never happen for Corbin as his growth appears to have slowed and may even be reversing according to scientific experiments which used samples of Corbin's DNA to estimate his growth potential. A leaked report shows they were shocked to find that his growth may be reversing!

What does this mean for Corbin and the Diamondbacks?! What does it mean for MLB? Will he become the next Eddie Gaedel or will doctors be able to save him?

Point is... Corbin Carroll or whatever his name is... He's old news. I used to like him when he was a rookie, but he hasn't accomplished anything since his rookie season! Hard to get excited about that. A real exciting player to watch is Will Smith of the Dodgers. He plays the catcher position and he's pretty heroic.

Multiple World Series wins: Smith was a key contributor during the Dodgers' World Series championship seasons in 2020 and 2024.

I tried to calculate what percentage more World Series titles Will Smith has compared to Corbin Carroll and the answer was infinitely more. The calculator informed me it was an incalculable difference.

Three-time All-Star: He was selected to the MLB All-Star Game in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Will Smith has been selected to 3 MLB All Star Games. 150% of the number of times that Carroll has been selected.

Clutch walk-off hitter: Smith is especially notable for his game-winning heroics. He holds the Dodgers' franchise record for the most pinch-hit walk-off home runs in history.

Notable fact that Carroll has never been able to finish a hero. They say he can't handle the cheese!

He's a corner outfielder who doesn't walk much with a career .258 BA. Let's settle down a bit.

Just for fun, do a search on "Will Corbin Carroll be elected to the HOF?" You'll find prognostications that look very favorable for Corbin -- and those guesses were before his current 2025 season. He's getting better and better, both offensively and defensively. Time will tell -- you'll see that he's a rare combination of power and speed.

I do actually think Corbin Franklin Carroll, born August 21st, 2000, (or whatever his name is) is a very talented player and time will tell on all the rest. Is he 9 topics talented? I don't know that either.
