For sale: Merriam's Massachusetts For Justice medal of 1856, $150

This is the first political medal of Boston die sinker Joseph H Merriam, struck in 1856 after the caning of Senator Charles Sumner in Congress. This example is slabbed by PCGS as AU details-scratched, but that is rather harsh. It is attractive in hand, an affordable example of Merriam's first issue. $150, shipped.
For years, this was misattributed by DeWitt as a product of 1859, but my research confirms it was struck 3 years prior for the aforementioned assault on Sumner.
