Looking For Opinions, Suggestions And Examples For A Modern Love Token

I have a wedding anniversary coming up in a few months. I married my high school sweetheart.
I don't exactly know where to start on something like this. I'm going to need it professionally made and fabricated, Type coin? Year of coin? I have a rough idea of a design, (the date we met? our initials? birth dates? etc..)

A competent bench jeweler can plane off the reverse and engrave whatever you want.

If you are on Facebook, pull up the Countermarked Counterstamped & Engraved Coins group for plenty of images of engraved tokens from the 1700's on -- the coins from men going to sea to their sweethearts or the prisoners dispatched to Australia to their wives may give you some ideas as will some of the engraving styles & options.
