Good to know.
Thanks!
Since May of 2024.
I took 3 months off to take a 25,000 kilometer tour circumnavigating Australia by camper van last year. 3 teen boys and wife. At that time, and due to my coming retirement, We decided to end the ANACS ancient program.
I am proud of my involvement in Ancients in ANA, ANACS, ANAAB, ICG, and then again at private ANACS.
We were the first to offer full service Grading in a slab with Grading and Authentication guarantees. Due respects to Robert Hoge, ANA curator and Davis Sear as certificate authentications.
Several firms, Amos ANACS, PCGS, NGC, briefly slabbed coins to satisfy ala'carte orders
for specific submitters, But not as a regular course of business.
Mistakes, We made a few. Counterfeit buy backs were less than 1/4 of one percent of our volume. Most notably the diobols of Messembria which caught the ancient dealers by surprise.
Wayne Sayles is owed gratitude for catching these.
I also turned away a few types of coins that later turned out to be genuine. But overall I think I did a fine job opening up this venue to the coin world, I was also aided by some invaluable consultants such as Rick Ponterio and sons, Steve Album and Joe Cribb, Allan Berman, The Sedwicks Father and son, Dave Vagi, Vic England, Kerry Wetterstrom, Harlan Berk, David Sear, Doug Mudd, George Fisher, Ken Bressett, Robert Hoge and others I am sure I am forgetting
This leaves Dave Vagi, A friend of mine for nearly 40 years to continue his great work at NGC.
While we both began this journey alone, Dave's success has earned him a staff.
I am still surprised PCGS has not entered the fray. I understand David Hall was warned away from involvement early on. Still, NGC and ANACS have done it. J.P. Martin

Sorry to hear that, but on life goes on. Now, how was your trek around Australia?
Lotta long lonely roads in the Outback. Got to see most of the major cities and alot of roadhouses.
My oldest son fished the 3 oceans and 4 seas. He caught a shark. Drove 100's of miles a day on average in a 6 person campervan. Wrong side of road. Beats 9-5 in the grading chair. Went to Perth mint on the DAY of it's 125th Anniversary. Totally unplanned.
Met some cool Aussies and saw the big red rock, Snorkeled the Great Barrier reef. learned to live with my family in very close quarters. Ate strange food, including Kangaroo, Eels and Squid. A trip my sons will remember the rest of their lives. J.P. Martin
