Rattler slab collectors.....a question for you

Have you seen many Mint State Roosies in Rattlers? I'm not talking about sample slabs or Proof Roosies in Rattlers which seem common. Would it command a premium in your opinion?

As always it will depend on the coin, but as a general statement and speaking just for myself, I would not pay extra because the coin is an MS Rossie. I personally think the mania over an MS64 which is hyped as "this is the top pop in a rattler", or "this is the top pop in a rattler with a CAC" or whatever option and combo you want is way overblown. I like old holders because they are a bit of the history of the grading industry and because there are still some very nice coins in older holders. But many collectors today have really jumped the shark with the holder thing.

I have seen a handful of mint state Roosevelt Dimes in rattlers that are non-sample slabs. They are not rare but are not common either, so there is a premium although often not significant. If someone is trying to do a set, then certain examples might go for more if they are not commonly seen.

Here are a few recent GC sales (although these results have a toning component to them as well).
