1970D Dime with missing "M"

in Q & A Forum
I have a 1970D dime that is missing the "M" in DIME. Through my searches, I haven't come across anything like that. I thought it might be just worn off but it doesn't look like it. I am new to collecting, so I don't have any experience. What do you think?

Looks like a filled die. Sometimes grease and debris will clog a feature on a die causing weakness or missing features on the coins struck from that die.
Agree, just a grease filled die.
Fairly common and adds no value to the dime.
Thank you, I had no Idea, was hoping I had something though lol
Well, you definitely do have something, it's a good example of a filled die. Just remember, contrary to what all the youtube/tiktok videos want you to beleive, small anomalies like this almost never add any value or significance to collectors. Coins are mass produced and almost any one you pick up will have some kind of quality control issue, or damage of some sort.
I'd save it.
And if you have to explain the fact that you have ONE DIE of a 1970 D, US Dime.
Then, proudly, show and tell, how the coin's reverse image was struck, by a grease gun.
Also, what if it has friends ?
I'd save it.
Question .
NO PUNS ARE INTENDED.
Does the mint use green grease or just anything on sale ?
Huh, I never thought to ask that. Hmm ?
Anyone know ?
