Post coins you have received as gifts

These came from a very close relative not that long ago. Here are mine both are extremely rare. The 1752 has a mintage of 208 pieces (most dates apart from this date have mintages of 50 000 or more). A 1752 Peru 2 reales comes up form sale every few years sometimes longer. Most coins from Peru and Guatemala are holed it was a cultural thing to hang them on ropes or sow them into clothing for transportation.

Some gifts from banks.

My wife surprised me with this beauty for my birthday about 20-25 years ago, I had been ogling it in a CVM catalogue (I miss receiving those!!), where it was raw and described as a choice AU coin, priced at about $900. Choice indeed! She unexpectedly passed in 2023, and for obvious reasons it’s a coin I will never sell. It might only be a green bean coin, but she had a gold bean heart.

I am sorry about your loss.
My wife found this coin raw in an antique store and gave it to me as a gift. I sent it in for grading and will keep it forever. It's not a high grade or valuable but it means more than those numismatic reasons.

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
Someone special to me gave me this when we had reconnected. It's not high grade, but because of whom it came from, it's special to me.
Received a good raw pile of circulated 1800s coins and had this one graded.

My brother gifted me his entire childhood collection... Indian Head Cents album (sans 1877 and 1909S), Lincoln Cents (sans) 1909-S VDB, half completed Buffalo Nickels album, complete Jefferson Nickel album (to 1980), complete Roosevelt Dimes to mid 1970s, 20thC Type Set, and a bunch of lower grade Type coins... including a 1891 CC Morgan Dollar... I purged to pics from my phone, but it was a lot!
I had started Buffalo Nickels last year and between what I had and what my brother gave me, I ended up just 2 coins short of a full album... I completed that this summer...

ALL of my coin purchases are gifts from my wife! I just use her checking account. If she ever finds out, I'm toast.

I bought it. Years later I gave it away. Years later it was given back to me.
