I made a gold bean rattler Merc last week!

MeltdownMeltdown Posts: 8,961 ✭✭✭✭✭

I wasn't expecting it but I was hopeful. B)
The reverse is 90% cameo awesome.
I had a litte trouble with my focus but otherwise this is pretty accurate to this sucker in person

I have heard of those Mercs in rattlers are good candidates for gold beans. Nice one!

Not bad! Looks like it's pushing 67.

I think I’ve heard of a decent number of older-holder business strikes receiving gold CAC stickers. But I doubt that’s been the case with Proofs.

I think I’ve heard of a decent number of older-holder business strikes receiving gold CAC stickers. But I don’t think it’s been the same for Proofs.

The lower grade ones have a decent hit rate from what I've observed in the series.

It does seem that PF65 was a pretty safe grade to hand out on an otherwise clean proof. I've seen a lot of OGH Franklins in that grade as well.
I've always felt graders and/or grading companies had/have an interest or maybe a caution when it comes to protecting high grade population value.

I’ve got a ‘42 in PR66 in an OGH. I need it to get a gold bean to be worth what I paid for it in 2006
Congrats on the gold bean! That’s a nice looking Merc!

Nice one, I wouldn't argue about it if it was in a 67 holder.

    Congratulations on the Gold bean.

Beautiful strike and if our beloved RickO was here with us.....

I miss RickO. I had an alt here before this account and he was always super chill.

Truly a nice example of a Winged Liberty Head dime. I have one of that grade from 1942, but none other, at least not yet.
